Baby Registry Checklist India 2026
70+ essentials organized by category with INR prices
Last updated · By Trishna Ramdasan
This is the baby registry checklist we wish we had when we were preparing for our baby. Every item is chosen for Indian families — Indian brands, INR pricing, items suited to Indian weather and living situations, and things you'll actually use in the first year.
We've organized everything into 8 categories based on recommendations from the Indian Academy of Pediatrics and real experience from Indian parents. Each item includes a price range so you can plan your budget and make sure your registry has options at every price point for guests.
Tip: You don't need everything on this list. Pick what matters to your family, skip what doesn't. A good registry has 30-50 items.

How Do You Build a Good Baby Registry?
- Include a range of prices. Add items from ₹200 to ₹10,000+. This lets every guest — from college friends to relatives — find something in their budget.
- Add more items than you expect to receive. Not every guest will buy from the registry. Having 40-50 items ensures there's always something available.
- Don't register for items you'll get traditionally. If your mother-in-law is definitely buying gold jewelry, skip that. Focus on practical daily-use items.
- Buy in the right sizes. Newborn (NB) size fits for 2-4 weeks at most. Register for 0-3 month and 3-6 month sizes instead.
- Think about your climate. Summer babies need more cotton and muslin. Winter babies need warmer blankets and caps. Monsoon babies need mosquito protection.
- Skip the "nice to have" for now. You don't know what your baby will actually like until they arrive. Start with essentials and add specialized items later.
